What we do

Practical, community-based healthcare: from free medical camps to screening, education and follow-up.

Our programs

Six ways we bring care closer

Each program is shaped by what communities tell us they need.

Outreach

Free medical camps

Our flagship program. A team of doctors, nurses, clinical officers, pharmacists and volunteers sets up a full-day clinic in a school, church or community hall. We hold a camp every month, and between camps patients can see us at our offices every week.

  • General consultations for adults and children
  • Free essential medicines dispensed on site
  • Basic lab tests where possible

Access

Mobile clinic & home visits

For people who cannot travel: the elderly, the bedridden and families in hard-to-reach areas. We bring care to their doorstep and check in regularly.

  • Visits to elderly and housebound patients
  • Wound care and medication reviews
  • Linking patients to community health promoters

Families

Mother & child health

Healthy mothers raise healthy children. We support women through pregnancy and the early years of their children's lives.

  • Antenatal check-ups and danger-sign education
  • Child growth monitoring and nutrition advice
  • Encouraging immunisation and hospital delivery

Prevention

Screening & chronic care

Many conditions are silent until they become serious. Early screening lets us catch them in time and help people manage them for life.

  • Blood pressure and blood sugar checks
  • Eye screening and reading glasses
  • Ongoing support for hypertension and diabetes

Education

Health education

Knowledge is the best prevention. We run talks in schools, churches and community groups on topics families ask us about.

  • Hygiene, sanitation and clean water
  • Nutrition and healthy lifestyles
  • First aid and recognising when to seek care

Referrals & follow-up

When a patient needs more than a camp can offer, we don't stop at a referral letter. We help them reach a hospital and follow up on their recovery.

  • Referrals to partner hospitals
  • Support with transport or treatment costs where possible
  • Follow-up calls and visits after treatment
How it works

A day at a Misambi medical camp

  1. Mobilise

We work with local leaders and health promoters to let the community know when and where we'll be.

  2. Register & triage

Volunteers register each patient and take vital signs so the most urgent cases are seen first.

  3. Treat

Clinicians see patients, run tests, give medicine and share health advice.

  4. Follow up

Patients who need more care are referred, and we keep in touch until they get it.
